I'm Back!

Here we go, peeps!  Linking up with Farley for February's Currently series.  Cannot believe tomorrow is February 1st!  Where has the time gone!  This month will be CRAZY for me - a week in Nashville, 3 weeks of writing assessments, 1 week of benchmarking, Math CRA assessments, 4 formal observations to conduct (one of my own) and to end the month - 4 days in Los Angels. Buckle up and let's get ready!

Listening:  I bent to peer pressure - from the hubs - and we got the 3rd Hangover! Loved the first one, the 2nd one went WAY to far, and the jury is out on the 3rd.  But, Mr. Cooper is looking F-I-N-E!

Loving:  I have a new Noonday purchase on its way!  So excited to get it.  If you haven't heard about NoonDay, visit my friend Amanda's site. It's a company that teaches artisans in developing countries to be self-sufficient by giving them a trade.  This group of amazing people also believe and fund adoptions!  Tell her Shasta sent you!

Thinking:  On Tuesday morning I was sitting in a classroom doing a formal evaluation when the teacher next door came in and said, "It's snowing!"  I was thinking little dusting, but we looked out the window and the entire playground was covered.  We got out of school at 11:30.  My husband had to come get me because my little car was not a good one for me to drive.  We ended up parking it a mile from our house because we couldn't get it up the street.  We didn't have school the rest of the week.  This is day 4 and I'm going nuts!  I wish I would have spent the time cleaning my house and getting caught up on laundry, but I chose not to.

Wanting:  As a result of not being able to drive my little car in the snow, I want/need a new one.  I love my red convertible, but it is definitely not good in the snow.

Needing:  My current housekeeper should be fired - that would be me.  My schedule is so busy that the last thing I want to do is clean or cook when I get home and I don't want to spend my weekends doing it either.  I stay on top of the immediate things - dishes and work clothes, but I need someone to help.  Keeping my fingers crossed that my hubs will pick up my slack :)

I've honestly spent the last 4 days drinking POTS of coffee and cinnamon rolls.  What is it about snow days that make you want to bake, lay around in pjs and watch movies?  My husband and I had one date officially and then we got engaged the next day.  He flew in to pick me up on his way from visiting his mom and dad, we went and saw The Saint and flew out to Alaska the next day.  On the plane he asked, I said yes.  My parents met him one time.  So, the lie is the regret of stepping out of the classroom this year.  There are days that the thought has crossed my mind, but overall, I'm happy with my decision.

  1. Hi, Shasta!! I am right there with you on the coffee and cinnamon rolls! We had two unexpected snow days, and all I wanted to do was lounge and eat! Ha! Love the story about your engagement, too! Good for you!! Happy, Happy Weekend!

  3. Hi, Shasta! I see that you are from South Carolina...Can I just say how much I am OBSESSED with Charleston? I've only been there once for about 4 days or so, but I LOVE it! I'm jealous of you living down south, especially this time of year! (I live in NH, Boo!) I love the story about your engagement. That is amazing! I guess when you know, YOU KNOW! Good luck with your very busy month ahead! Enjoy the traveling! (PS I also stepped out of the classroom this year. I'm glad you feel confident about your decision!) -Colleen http://teachersareterrific.blogspot.com/

  4. I totally understand about the cooking and cleaning stuff. I'm surprised I'm keeping myself alive some days. I hope your snow days end soon (unless you want to keep wearing pjs then let it snow!!)
